Welcome to Anvilstone Dog Training

Not just dog training. We train people too.

Dog & Puppy Training in South Lakes

How we train

Every dog is different.

At Anvilstone, everything is done in a calm, structured way, with positive reinforcement, frequent breaks, and close attention to the dogs physical and mental well being.

Before arrival, time is spent on the phone asking what the owner wants from the training, how the dog is in itself, temperament, personality, what they like to eat, and the nature of any issues. In this way, a picture starts to build of the nature of training that would be most helpful.

The owner is also asked if they want to be involved in the training. It may be that they want to drop off and pick up with a brief handover, or that they want to stay for longer with a one or two day handover. Either is fine but it is our experience that a one – two day handover working with their dog alongside Ian is best for both the owner and their dog.

If you would like to stay with us whilst we are training, we have a detached holiday cottage located opposite the farmhouse which is available to book here.

Normally, with all types of behavioural issues, it’s the owner that we need to teach how to help their dog. This is where Ian’s structured, owner focused dog training course is beneficial.

Structured owner focused dog & puppy training

Most behavioural issues as well as sheep avoidance, recall and pulling and reactivity training, can be addressed in 5 – 10 days.

Aggression issues can take slightly longer.

Gun dog training depends on the current level of training, owner experience, and what type of training is needed.

As well as dog training, we have canine groomers available, dieticians, and a vet practice close by.

To get in touch with Ian and discuss training requirements you and your dog may need, please contact us here or you can call us on: 07791 835 841. You can also read our reviews to get a better picture of how Ian and his training methods have helped other dogs and their owners in the past.
